The Dizziness of Freedom

Chris Mann is a young, London-based photographer who became a darkroom member earlier this year. It was obvious from the start that he has an eye for a good shot. Now he has just published his first zine where you can see this for yourself.

Dizziness of Freedom, produced in collaboration with the Photobook Café, is a graphic interplay of ambiguous, open-ended images from his ongoing body of work. Reimagining the world around him, his reductive lens captures a diverse range of subjects, triggering curiosity and relying on the viewer’s imagination to ‘fill in the blanks’. Chris states that he is “interested in the idea that photographs can do more than replicate a moment in reality, especially in today's world where we're constantly faced with images that dictate how we perceive”.

Shot entirely on 35mm black and white film, the hand-bound publication includes 24 reproductions of his silver gelatin darkroom prints across 32 pages. Copies are available to order online here or at Photobook café, 4 Leonard Circus, London EC2A 4DQ.
